Planetside 2: Target Audience

Write a possible target audience demographic for Planetside 2 in general: I think it’s 85% males and 15% females and 18-35 year old people who are working or in education.
Now write a target audience demographic for each faction from Planetside 2 – it will be similar to the overall target audience but think carefully about changes in age, education or employment:

The Terran Republic: 22-29, working

The Vanu Sovereignty: 30-35, working

The New Conglomerates: 18-21, in education and working

Now use what you have learned about psychographic profiling to choose potential psychographic groups for each of the three factions:

The Terran Republic: Reformers

The Vanu Sovereignty: Reformers

The New Conglomerates: Aspirers

FIFA 14 Case Study

Print

1. In this Image Messi is wearing casual clothing which shows he is just one of us and on the game everyone is the same no matter how famous you are and he is giving you the keys showing you have power to do what you want on this game.
2. A key conventions on the print advert is the slogan "We ARE FIFA 14" which is effective because it’s trying to see we are all a part of a community on this game with the word we and also shows you can be anyone to play this game

3. “This game was very disappointing for me, considering all of hype for its release. I felt there were too many sloppy touches for all of the players making it too easy to tackle or lose control of the ball. I was also told there was player intelligence, but I think the defenders in the game forgot...”
“Although lacking a bit in terms of innovation when compared with previous iterations, FIFA 14 remains a well-balanced, profound and addictive soccer experience that will be enjoyed by rookies and veterans alike.”
“With its extensive licenses, bold and complex yet accessible gameplay, unparalleled online offerings, excellent tutorials, and clean presentation, FIFA 14 may only be a small step up from last year's game, but it remains a fantastic offering overall.”
4. I think it is effective to use reviews to promote FIFA 14 to its target audience because people at that age want to know what’s in the game and what’s been updated from the game before.
5. I think e-media because it’s easier to advertise and FIFA fans definitely have some kind of technology to watch these adverts.
Broadcast

1.       It makes it look fun and shows that everyone is together and that the game has a community

2.       It shows he is just a normal person that isn’t in an expensive car

3.       The slogan shows that everyone can play FIFA no matter who you are and also the main star is one of the most famous footballer plays out there.

4.       It shows that everyone is the same and you can be anyone to play

5.       The trailer shows the gameplay and how the game works whereas the advert is just trying to make the game promoting the game and making it look good to the audience

6.        Its good because people think that its going to be the same as the other FIFA but this trailer shows the differences in the games.

E-Media

1.       When you open it up there is a big picture of Messi right in the middle and in the middle it has updates with the game and lots of other options to contact them.

2.       It has 21,343,056

3.

4.       Drake has been apart of the FIFA 14 advertising even though he has nothing to do with football.

5.       #FIFA14

6.       FIFA 14 last tweet was Ronaldo as it was his birthday. This will appeal to the audience as he is a very good footballer.

Language:
You can see Messi in the tunnel smiling with a few others just about to walk onto the pitch with him.  It has  the logo and Title of the game at the top.  It also show the platforms it can be played on and the feature like PlayStation move and PlayStation network with the age and the release date.  They wrote  'join the Fifa club' using the 1 and 3 to make a B and the word Club makes it seem as if your a apart of something instead of just writing Join The Fifa Game.

Institution: The Company that created Fifa 14 is Electronic Arts. The platforms this game is available on is PS3, Xbox 360, PS Vita, NintendoWii and Mac and cost about £40.00

Audience:The Age rating of this game is 3+ however most people that play this game around 10-30 years because Football is a hobby for a lot of people so they also play the game of age the 3+ just shows that their is no bad content on it.

Representation: They have a professional footballer at a stadium just coming out of the tunnel and there are is nothing shown that tries to encourage females to play the game so this game is mainly aimed at males.

Call Of Duty Black Ops 2

Key Information: Black Ops 2 is a first person shooter released on the 13/11/12 for the PS3 and Xbox 360, it was released on the 30/11/12 for the Wii U.  7.5 million coppies were sold in the U.S.A in November 2012.

The Institutions Behind The Game: The developer of the game was Treyarch, the Publishers were Activision and Square Enix.7

How It Was Marketed/Promoted: They used Adverts on Youtube videos, TV, Posters outside shops (GAME), they offered people extra things if they pre-ordered the game.  They also have a Facebook page,  Twitter account and Youtube channel.

Target Audience: I couldn't find the official target audience but the game is an 18+ game so I would say 18 - 25 year olds although a lot of the people that play the game are younger than 18.

How Successful It Was: they sold 7.5 million coppies in the first month only in the U.S.A and The Call of Duty game has another Developer (Infinity Ward).  They both have their own Sequals, Modern Warfare and Black Ops and Infity Ward are also starting a new sequal called Ghosts.  The developers take a turn each year to make another game to their sequal, one of the developer will be making the game while the others sort out and Bugs and Glitches to their current multiplayer game to make it better for online players.
